Pediatric Dentistry Bear, DE

Our Office is Child-Friendly, and Dr Wieczorek enjoys treating children of all ages.

When should I bring my child for their first dental visit?

As soon as children begin getting their baby teeth, they can start being examined by a dentist. Parents do not have to wait until a certain age to bring their infants or toddlers in for an exam. If your child has teeth then we can see them!

What should I expect at my child’s first appointment?

A first visit to the dentist may only include an examination. If a child is old enough, perhaps a cleaning and fluoride application can also be performed. And if a child is big enough, x-rays may be taken. Everything depends on age/size of the child.

Dr Wieczorek admits he cannot treat every child. If a child has multiple cavities and is very young, the best course of treatment would be a referral to a pediatric dentist. Dental anxiety/fear may also play a factor on whether or not a child needs to be referred to a specialist. An assessment will be made at the first visit.
